Sequel to Part 1. This part shows a special feature this phone has, and there is even a short “blooper reel” at the end, from when I struggled to say “because of this problem…”!

A flashlight? Cool! Nokia always seems to have something unique and cool on each of their phones!

nipperoid told me the reason you need headphones (or anything) plugged in is because the radio needs to use the cord of whatever’s plugged in as an antenna.

Yep, it certainly had some nice features for its time. Thanks for the comment, Charlie!

I have an old Nokia, similar to that. No FM radio, but it has an LED flashlight on top.

That phone has some really nice features. I’d think that that converter program would be very useful as would the radio. Seems like a pretty advanced phone for its time. Great video Trent, 5* as always.

the sony erricsons have the same problem with the radio
written by ThePcTrickster March 5th, 2010 at 08:35 | #15
some of sony erricsons have radio tuners like the w700i that i used to have

Yeah, most pocket-size devices that use radios do. I would prefer something with a dedicated antenna, though.

The mp3 of my mum also uses the headphones as an antenna (said on the users manual :D)

Oh yeah, I meant once I had no cable plugged in, just the adapter so it knew something was plugged in and it let me turn the radio on. Picked up everything fine.
written by nipperoid March 5th, 2010 at 08:35 | #19
yes if you try moving the cable around it would affect reception!
written by themaritimeman March 5th, 2010 at 08:35 | #20
Oh, it makes sense! Thanks!
One time I ran the radio with just the 2.5-3.5 adapter plugged in, but no speakers plugged into that, and it picked up a signal just fine. I would think it could use the phone antenna for the radio!
written by themaritimeman March 5th, 2010 at 08:35 | #21
Really? Heck, I didn’t think they did. Embedding a radio in an electronic device like a cell phone usually doesn’t yield the best results, from what i’ve seen.
written by nipperoid March 5th, 2010 at 08:35 | #22
the reason it “forces” you to do the headset/radio thing it uses the cable as an antenna

Hey, this phone is prettyy good for an 04, but most phones today have an FM radio built in.
